In order to promote non-motorised transport and cycling across the Smart City, the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) today organised an exclusive cyclothon of transgenders between Ekamra Kshetra Plaza near Sishu Bhawan Square and Temple Plaza near Ram Mandir Square. This was perhaps the first of its kind all-transgender cyclothon in the city, organised for a cause. Participated by more than 50 people from the transgender community, the event was sponsored by Khimji Foundation. Members of SAKHA, a community-based organisation of transgenders actively participated in the event with great enthusiasm under the leadership of Meera Parida. Well-known Odia TV actor and social worker Russy Patnaik also joined as a guest and encouraged the participants
State level consultation on opportunity and bridging the Gap and Observations of transgender Day of Remembrance at Hotel ARYA PALACE was observed and a Candle March rally from Rajmahal Square to Master canteen square was conducted in which the shelter home residents and staff participated
Residents from the shelter home got their training certificate from Mrs. Dipti Mohapatra General Manager of Capital Region Urban Transport for successfully completing the driving training in E-Rickshaw as per the syllabus of Govt. Training school, CRUT, Bhubaneswar, Odisha
During this month, the inmates trainees were trained on making phenyl by mixing various raw chemicals and substances with appropriate proportion and ratio by the trainer. The trainees along with phenyl making methods were also instructed on how to handle the chemical safely to protect oneself from exposure to it. Further It has been planned to facilitate the marketing of these products with their brands through Parichaya Kinner SHG formed by SAKHA. Through this project initiative, we have facilitated to get registered for the trade license and it has obtained the license for marketing the phenyl. In the month of November, 2021 we have also facilitated for Parichaya Kinner SHG the application to the BMC to get a shop in the Bhubaneswar city under the vending zone of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation for selling the phenyl prepared by transgender persons. The application is still under the consideration of BMC.
