The Inaugural Ceremony of The Garima Greh on Transgender shelter home and skill development commenced with planting plants by a group of dignitaries of TWEET FOUNDATION in Mumbai, with the support of NISD. also, this day was a history created day where in there will be no such shelter homes and skill development center are found for transgenders. It was held on 25th July 2021.
it was the 75th Indian Independence Day, we as an Indian Citizen, We celebrate this Day with excitement, Also, as transgenders organization nearest police station invites us for flag hoisting and advocacy.

Rakhi is a special occasion to celebrate the virtuous bond of love between a brother and sister which is one of the deepest and noblest of all human emotions. we all in Garima Greh Mumbai stands with each others as brothers and sisters for each other.
As welcome our Sweet Lord Ganesha at Garima Greh, it was a please 1 and half day with his blessing and presence. it is an India's biggest festival especially in Maharashtra.
We arranged group dancing program for residents with different musical instruments to creat a proper fastive environment to enjoy the Ganpati festival in garima greh.
Leo club members visited to Garima Greh for various skill development courses which were make up course, graphic designing and basic digital skills and also they gave us lot of legal knowledge to our residents so that they will become legal literate for future and at the end of the day we enjoyed garba night with our all residents ,staff and leo club members.
Last October we, the staff and residents of Garima Greh hosted a funtion and donating program with the innerwheel club of new bombay. There, the authorities of the innerwheel club have provided laptops and sewing machines to our residents. This event was very exciting for Garima Greh residents. And at the end of the program, everyone had lunch together and had discussion about the future goals and aspirations.
We have arranged the Kanyas for Kanya Pujan on the 8th day of Navratras and some of our residents took fast that day and they broke their fast with Kanyas .And all of those Kanyas from the mainstream society because we want to create sensitization and awareness about the Transgender Community among them.
04th November it was Laxmi Pujan, Diwali. In garima greh we did puja, all the staffs and residents came together and completed the rituals. Also we ate ood food and sweets. We danced we played games. We put beautiful rangolis and lighten the lamps. Which made us all feel so proporous and positive enviornment created. This Is how we celebrated diwali.
On the occasion of Tulsi Vivah, we had a small celebration in evening of 15th Nov. This is a day when families and societies get together to celebrate the last day of the festival by performing Maharashtrian wedding rituals for the tulsi plant. Keeping up with the spirit of the festive season, Mumbaikars will on Wednesday celebrate Tulsi Vivah, a wedding ceremony of the tulsi plant. Tulsi Vivah is celebrated on the last day of Diwali every year. This is a day when families and societies get together to celebrate the last day of the festival by performing Maharashtrian wedding rituals for the tulsi plant All the staff members and residents had fun by dancing, attending wedding rituals also we had snacks and Just a get together
On Transgender Day of Remembrance We Conduct small event of giving Homage/Tribute to all those Transgender from Different states who sacrifice there life in doing social work,Advocacy and struggale toeards TG Communitty. Residents here are all from diffrents states,Shared different story of there State transgender how they struggle/Fought Trangender rights and losts there lives.Also we lighten they Candel and Paid respact and homage to those brave Transgender.In front of there photographs collage criated by garima greh staff.This is how celebrate the day.
On this day we all were much exited for it, as We belive that this is should be celbrated all over the world as we all are humans, we kept Awareness session about human rights regarding LGBTQIA+ , also it a interactive session and overall informative session. We had snacks and this is how we celebrate this day.
As it is beautiful time of the year, winter and Christmas day, we kept a small celebration of Christmas day, where, we did prayer, we took session over bible studies. And we had dinner and cake, Rotaract club Kandivali members came here, they bought us snacks too. Our board member urmi madam came n took part in this celebration.
Makara/Makar Sankranti or Uttarayan or Maghi or simply Sankranti, also known in West Bengal as Mokor Sonkranti, and in Nepal as Maghe Sankranti, 'Sankranti' here means ‘transfer’, this day is considered as the transition day of Sun into Capricorn. Makarsankrant, is festival of Peace and exchanging Sweets, also we have rituals of giving small gifts, eventually we did small celebration in Garima greh, where we exchanged small gifts and haldi kunku, with all the ritual and with all the respect we did celebration, we all transwoman and transman wore nice cloths, everyone looked so handsome n beautiful respectively, we had sweets and gave flowers to each other, including Residents and staffs, we enjoyed performances given by residents over all the event was fun.
Republic Day is a public holiday in India, when the country marks and celebrates the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950, replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India and thus, turning the nation into a newly formed republic. We had been invited to nearest police station for flag hoisting as We work for Transgenders, we did flag hoisting and they gave us snacks also we clicked pictures with senior police officers for documentation. Also, we had small celebration in Garima Greh, we hoisted flag and had group performance our board member Urmi madam came to be part of this celebration.
On this special occasion of love and happiness, we had get tother and we invited Dr. Neeta, for taking session on Self Love, that session was truly effective as we notice all the residents liked and they were comfortable to speak with Dr. Neeta. As she did frankly talk also took short meditation which helped all the residents to gain their concentration. We had snacks and enjoyed the event by having fun dancing together.
The Skin Story: - it was a small and Interactive event, 4 people from their team came to celebrate self-love in month of February, we did get together where we shared our life story to them by which they got to know what exactly our community is facing, they shot us for documentary. On individual level also they did shoot where we spoke about problem and violence, we faced outside Garima Greh. They gifted us all, their beauty products to everyone including staff and residents.
Started our day with a pleasant morning, holding emotions inside from childhood how a woman is empowered and soft and strong, we staff wrote topics on social sectors where woman leads and wins and celebrates, topics such as :- 1) sports woman, 2) social workers, 3) politics, 4) entertainment industry etc, This topics were wonderfully written by residents and gave speech on it, which was too good and motivational, On womans days we as Transgender plays very important role which has to be seen and empowered, we had discuss about Tranwoman empowerment, how womans are also prior and not at back desk, example of many transwoman with their success stories and struggles faced by them, also we did Classis dance act where a Transwoman is being trained and empowered. This is how the event was celebrated and had fun.
all the ritual and culture of Maharashtra we celebrated holika dahan to showcase the beautiful culture of Holi celebration to all the residents, also, we looked after everyone’s safety by using Eco- friendly colors and 0 wastage of water, we palyed holi, we danced, we made all the arrangement of holika dahan following all the rituals, we had our project director witih us participating iin the celebration.

On the occasion of mahavir jayanti, Anam prem held an event for Trangenders in pune where all the residents and staff of Garima greh was present, in which we saw stalls for transgender entrepreneurs, performances by trans people and Panel discussion over trans empowerment.
On this Ospicious day, we staff kept session of interacting after watching a video on Jyotirao Phule’s Biography, we had quiz competition and at the end, we solved the queries of residents which they had about His life and work he did. How education is important to everyone regardless of gender is thought by him.
Our respected Dr.B.R Ambedkar, did great job by writing Indian Constitution and wrote rights to every citizen of India Regardless of Gender, Caste and Class. Because of him Dalit people got freed from slavery and untouchability, for all his good deeds we went to nearest Nalanda to be the part of celebration (Naman).
This is actually a holy party in Muslim Religion, where in Ramzan, they eat after long gap of whole day (Fasting) over all 30 days, in Iftari they sit together and eat to break the fast. And this is how we also did Iftari party with respect to culture and religion.
At Garima Greh, we had planned to celebrate this day as mostly all residents had left their homes and run away. They were also shown the value and importance of a Mother. The history of this day was also shared with them. Further they were asked to give a speech on the real meaning of a Mother with an intention to make them learn soft skills like communication and public speaking. The event had an emotional touch to it as many residents were reminded of their own mothers and home.
Innerwheel is a group that provides monetary and material support in the form of donations to Garima Greh. Like always, for the upliftment and empowerment of the transgender community, they have donated 1 laptop and a paper-plate making machine to us. Some of our transgender residents, then cut the ribbon and inaugrated the machine. The residents then demonstrated the procedure of making paper plates. The function came to a close by distributing snacks to all and a lively interaction session.
On this day, all residents and staff members dressed up and welcomed the guests with welcome drinks. This was followed by a presentation about the work done by TWEET Foundation in an online meeting where the roles and responsibilities of the Board members and staff members were explained to all. A fun session filled with dancing and singing was conducted in the lawn area of Garima Greh. At the end, food was distributed as a token of gratitude and appreciation.
Ghazal Dhaliwal is a transgender activist and writer. She visited our Garima Greh and was engaged in an interactive session filled with dance and singing with the residents and staff. Individually everyone shared their life struggles with her and she gave a number of meaningful insights. They also shared their dreams and aspirations and ma’am provided her guidance to them. She even answered questions about her life journey and transition process with everyone and her life success made everyone inspired and hopeful. She also brought along chocolate cookies and sweets for everyone to enjoy
On this day we celebrated Indian cultural festival vad-savitri.the importance of this festival is to plant of bannein tree witch emits oxyzen in the night were other tress emits carbon dioxide for this purpose we celebrate this day promissing to protect tress and celebrating it treditionally as Vad Pornima Occasion.
On the occasion of Pride Month, one of our Transgender celebrity wanted to celebrate pride month event in traditional way of Maharashtra, where Saisha Shinde Mam a great Trans fashion designer who gave us saree and kurtas as gifts for this celebration also she came with media and we all got covered in Media, what Garima greh and tweet foundation does for transgenders. We had dance on Maharashtrian songs and traditional dance of maharastra which is lavni. We had chats about what is pride month and how important it is to be visible in India. We had lunch and beautify sweets too.
On this day we had celebration for Saying goodbye to pride month and believing that pride month will keep its impression and foot prints to the whole year to carry forwards the pride of LGBTQ community, we had dance performances, An act where transgender couple and cis couple discussing different scenario’s before getting married to each other, explained how difficult is transgenders life after marriage also to survive in society right from livelihood to survive in main stream, our Project director Maya Mam gave Extremely great suggestions over living life with dignity being Experienced Transwoman.
